Coffee Shop

ladyandmugOpening times:

Monday: 11 am – 4 pm
Tuesday to Friday: 10 am – 4 pm

MENU Our nutritious home made soups are always delicious and customers love them.  The latest addition to our menu is Baked Potatoes.  Delicious just buttered or choose from a variety of fillings.  We also sell cooked breakfast rolls.  Bacon is the top favourite, but have other fillings too, all cooked to order.

Indulge in one of our scrumptious cakes.  You can even have an ice-cream cone, or a slider (reemember sliders?)

TAKE AWAY is another new feature of our cafe.

TELL US how you like our new menus.

LIVE MUSIC on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 pm, led by Martin Bowie on guitar. All local musicians and aspiring musicians are invited to come along and join in. Everyone else – just come and listen and enjoy.

Our coffee shop – more star, less bucks – is central to funding our programme of activities and is The Open Door‘s outward face to the general public in Morningside, Edinburgh. That means it is open to anyone: we champion diversity.

Of course, many people who use our services have a variety of support needs, so you may find having a cuppa is a different experience to that of your usual coffee shop. Can you open your mind to share some space with someone who is different from you?

You‘ll see first-hand how our volunteer staff do more than just serve coffee: they also provide friendship to some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Volunteers are encouraged to spend as much time as possible interacting with clients, listening to their concerns and where appropriate offering support or information.

What‘s more, our prices are kept intentionally low to promote inclusion.

We are always looking for volunteers.  To enquire about volunteering at The Open Door please contact  or phone 0131 447 9757.
