The Open Door in Morningside has been supporting older people, people with mental health issues and other vulnerable people in our community for 36 years. We do this through our cafe, volunteer placements, day services for older people and our social groups in art and poetry. Our premises are used by many other groups, charities and faiths. Inclusion is our byword. The Open Door aims to reduce isolation and loneliness by providing love, support, inclusion and a sense of community.

We have two spacious rooms available for hire. our largest room can accommodate up to 20 people. We currently hire out to art groups, exercise classes and for AGM’s. Prices start from £14 per hour. I can think of no better motivation to keep running and get fit than to do it not just for me, but for the kind and wonderful people in my community. My pledge is to run 5km 365 times in 2018 and to raise as much money as I can for the Open Door and help provide places and support for those who need it most. I think more should be done to give back to our amazing older generation and this is my way to help.
